Floodlighting of a Tennis Court

Local Planning Authority: Bristol City Council

Lighting Scheme: Matt Haskins Luminance Pro Lighting Systems Ltd

The Assignment

10 floodlighting columns were required (5 metres high) to light a tennis court

The Tennis Club is surrounded by residential dwellings on all sides which provided a challenge when looking at how to comply with ILP Guidance Notes for the Reduction of Obtrusive Light.

This was addressed with the use of LED luminaires for the floodlights, which reduce light spillage and energy consumption.

The introduction of the floodlights has allowed greater participation in tennis and in particular, coaching of juniors.
